DESIGN AND ILLUSTRATION PORTFOLIO

The following is the artwork that I created in my Design and Illustration class in the school year 2020-2021. This was my Freshman year of high school and it was all online due to Covid-19. The result of this was that I made all of these projects from the comfort of my own home.

Animal Project

This project was created using black ink. I added water to the ink to make it more of a watercolor consistency to create the shadows and highlights on the zebra. Each square is of the exact same picture, just zoomed out more after each square. This project is one of my favorites and resulted in my acceptance into the Art Honor Society for the 2021-2022 school year.

Sound Project

The vision for this project was created by listening to different sounds. Each square of the project was based on a different sound. My teacher played a sound and I had to sketch out how it made me feel and what that sound made me picture in my head. Once I sketched it out and filled in every square with colors and outlines, I had to find a way to make it look like more of a composition rather than a bunch of squares with different designs. So, that is what the addition of the bubbles, checkered circles, and the twisted lines across the page adds.

Doodlemania!

Doodlemania!

This drawing was what I made for the cover of my sketchbook for the school year. I was instructed to create a drawing using many of the elements of art. It consists of line, shape, space, and form. I had the freedom of drawing whatever I want to be my sketchbook cover.

Still Life

This drawing was based on real, still objects. I chose four objects from my bedroom to draw. These objects had to compliment each other and two out of four of them had to have no color while the other two had to have a pop of color. I oriented these objects the way I wanted them and took a picture. I then edited the picture to be in black and white. Since two of these objects had a pop of color, I edited the picture even more so that one color would be showing through the black and white. This was now my reference photo. Lastly, I accurately drew out this picture onto paper using pencils of all different gradients, and a blue colored pencil for the pop of color.

Inktober Drawing "Radio"

In the month of October, my class had something called "Inktober". This was when every week, we had to create a drawing based on a word from a list of words given to us by our teacher. These drawings all had to be in pen. We couldn't even sketch it out in pencil first. This drawing was my favorite one that I made.
