GRAPHIC DESIGN
PORTFOLIO

This is a collection of artwork that I completed in my Graphic Design (2021-2022) and Advanced Graphic Design (2022-2023) classes. Through these classes, I have learned the ins and outs of both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator as well as how to communicate my ideas graphically.

Interior Design

This project demonstrated the skills of tracing and using gradients. After tracing an initial design, I added decorative elements such as the artwork on the wall to make it personalized and more like something I would like to have in my own home. Creating this interior design furthered my understanding of how to make a realistic layout.

Saul Bass Movie Poster

Here I made a movie poster inspired by the style of Saul Bass. Saul Bass makes very minimalistic movie posters that show maybe one or two aspects of the movie in the design, the title of the movie, the actors names, and the credits at the bottom. I chose to create a new movie poster for The Joker because I have yet to see any posters for this movie where it is minimalistic. Every poster I saw was very intricate and scary. So, I felt that creating just the Joker's smile would be a great way to let the viewer know exactly what the movie is while also giving it some spunk.

Object Composition

This composition is three objects that all were a part of the same family/style. So, I chose a curling iron, perfume, and a compact mirror. We had to create a design for these three objects and then create four different compositions with different backgrounds. Each composition plays around with different rotations, angles, sizes, etc.

Personal Magazine

This project was intended to create a magazine cover that reflected my interests. The cover photo had to be one of myself doing something that I love. I used an actual magazine, "Guitar World", and recreated their logo. I then made up article names and an interview title to match my theme.

Disconnections

I created this piece for a submission to an exhibit for National Art Honor Society. This piece portrays two different people of two different races and ethnicities coming together. One of them, while still being connected to the other, is on their phone. I did this to portray the idea that while people are learning to come together as one, there will always be that obvious disconnect whether it is because of technology or anything else.

Movie Poster

For this project, I was assigned to look at all different types of movie posters and choose one style that stood out to me. I then had to create a movie poster that used the same style. This movie poster had to be for an original movie. I invented the title, plot line, and poster design.

Greetings Card

My greeting card project required me to develop a postcard for anywhere in the world. I chose Florida because of its beautiful scenery and vibrant colors. I used a pre-existing Florida greetings card and based mine off of that. I used the pen tool to trace the letters of "Florida" and added in my own pictures that I felt demonstrates the vibe and feel of Florida.

Map of London, England

This piece is my final for the Advanced Computer Graphics class of my junior year (2022-2023). We were told to "Create a map". That is basically all of the parameters we were given. So, I decided to create a map of the place that I most recently visited: London, England. I wanted it to be sort of kid-like in the sense that it wasn't a true map with specific roads and paths. So, I simply added in all of the main attractions that I could think of and created a color scheme.

Expressive Lines

This was the first project that I ever made using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I was assigned to use expressive lines, contour lines, line variation, and implied lines to create abstract designs in black and white. The next step was to pick a color scheme and convert each design into that color scheme. I then oriented every design into a grid and experimented with the way each design was facing - upside down, backwards, etc. - to create an abstract expressive line project.
